On June 7, Image Entertainment will release individual collections of two beloved British actors...
One is known for his eccentric portraits of English life, the other for his portrayals that hold no illusions. The Michael Palin Collection will include a trio of witty favorites: Time Bandits, A Private Function and The Missionary. The Bob Hoskins Collection holds a selection of streetwise classics: The Long Good Friday, Mona Lisa, Raggedy Rawney, and The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne. The 3-DVD Michael Palin Collection will be available for an SRP of $24.98 and the 4-DVD Bob Hoskins Collection will be available for an SRP of $29.98. Pre-book is May 10th.
The Bob Hoskins Collection includes the films that made him famous. As a mob boss in The Long Good Friday, small-time hood in Mona Lisa, commanding officer in Raggedy Rawney (which he also co-wrote and directed) and untrustworthy neighbor in The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne, his rough persona is unforgettable. These titles include co-stars such as Academy Award winners Helen Mirren, Michael Caine and Maggie Smith…insuring the emotional intensity that these stories command.
The Michael Palin Collection displays the Monty Python alum’s trademark wit and wisdom. As a co-writer of Time Bandits (with some cameos as well), he investigates time travel, history and a child’s imagination. He stars as a meek doctor in A Private Function which gently satirizes post-war England. And as writer – and titular star – of The Missionary he parodies the responsibilities and innocence of a man of the cloth.
